Hookup
INT. KEVIN'S FOYER - NIGHT
A black sedan with halogen headlights pulls up outside the house, and BRIAN and LISA exit carrying KEVIN around their shoulders. They enter the front door struggling with Kevin who is nearly passed out drunk. They bring him to the bedroom and set him down on the bed.
LISA
Ugh, good god!
BRIAN
Yea, that was my workout for the year.
LISA
(laughing)
Thanks for helping him get here for the night, I don't think we'd have made it without you.
BRIAN
No problem, happy to help out.
LISA
I just can't believe Kevin, he always does this.
BRIAN
(Laughing and shaking head)
The man likes to drink.
LISA
(Admonishing)
Yea he sure does. It's getting ridiculous.
They exit and we see the door shut behind them.
INT. BRIAN'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
WIDE SHOT--
Brian and Lisa sit on the spacious couch, leaning inward towards one another. Lisa holds a glass of white wine, Brian's glass is on the coffee table.
LISA
(Laughing)
No way!
BRIAN
Ask anyone, you feel like such an idiot doing cold calls. You literally walk into the client's office like, "Hi! My names Brian, and boy do I have an opportunity for you!"
(Pantomimed gulp)
LISA
(Laughing hysterically)
You should tell them you'll make them an offer they can't refuse.
BRIAN
(Smiling cheekily)
No, you're thinking of the Godfather Lisa - he's talking about bribing someone in that.
Lisa is cracking up, touching Brian and leaning into him.
BRIAN
I mean what kind of operation do you think I'm running over here?
While laughing Lisa spills a bit of wine on her shirt. Brian quickly grabs a napkin off the coffee table and starts wiping it off. He pushes her down onto the couch, leaning over her, and she squeals with delight.
BRIAN
Are you drunk?
LISA
No, no you're just cracking me up.
BRAIN
Well that's good. I aim to please.
The tone changes, Lisa and Brain share a look for a moment. Brian and Lisa are close to each other. Brian slowly moves in closer, and Lisa does not pull away.
BRIAN
We shouldn't.
LISA
You're right.
Lisa closes the remaining gap and goes in for the kiss. They start making out passionately, clothes being roughly torn off.
FADE OUT
INT. BRIAN'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
PAN across the room back to Brian and Lisa, post-coitus laying on the couch staring at the ceiling.
BRIAN
(rubbing eyes)
Ohh fuckkk.
LISA
What?
BRIAN
We shouldn't have done that...
LISA
It's not for you to worry about, it's my shit I need to figure it out.
BRIAN
FUCKKK.
They look at each other in silence for a beat. Suddenly Lisa turns away and starts crying. Brian moves to comfort her, but she brushes him away. They stay still for another beat.
BRIAN
Are you okay?
LISA
No this is a fucked up situation... I fucked up. I feel like a fucking slut!
They turn to look at each other.
BRIAN
I'm sorry okay? This didn't happen. Let's just pretend that this didn't happen.
LISA
(getting up)
Yes. That sounds like a good idea.
Brian gets up from the couch and quickly puts on his pants while Lisa awkwardly watches. They make eye contact. The look on their face shows their shame.
BRIAN
This is not good.
LISA
Yup.
BRIAN
Alright, we'll talk later. Get some sleep.
LISA
You too, good night.
Brian leaves quickly out the front door and shuts it behind him.
INT. BRIAN'S HOUSE - MORNING
Brian trudges down the stairs to his kitchen. His head is hung. He goes down the hall and finds RICK dressed in basketball clothes, filling his water bottle with protein shake. He is happy to see Brian.
RICK
What's up man! I heard you come back late last night.
BRIAN
Yea man.
RICK
You get laid?
BRIAN
Um... Yup.
RICK
Atta boy! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout my man!
They dap, Brian smiling and sticking his tongue out, accepting Rick's congratulations. Brian's misery just barely seeps through his false bravado.
BRIAN
You goin' to basketball?
RICK
About to stuff some face man.
BRIAN
(Half-smiling)
Aight bro git it.
Rick and Brian fist bump, then Rick EXITS the kitchen. Brian turns back away from the exit and stares off aimlessly, smile slowly fading. He looks up, out the window, and his expression turns to concern.

This one is my take on the false bravado that single men often don in lieu of genuine communication of their feelings, especially around sexual experiences. It leads to repression, suppression, and poor behavior. Sometimes it seems like if a man was coerced or assaulted by a woman, he might not just remain silent, he might even go as far as bragging about it to his friends. Meanwhile, this attitude towards women leads to increased violence, failed relationships, and personal issues.
It is a symptom of the deep fear of self present in most younger men.
